1970 Custom Built 33 Wooden Yawl This boat was built over an 11 year period using only the finest materials. It was launched for the first time in the summer of 1970. It is a 33 foot yawl with a 10 foot beam, and it draws 6 feet of water. The boat weighs 8 tons (including the 2 ton lead keel), is built from white oak ribs planked with Honduran mahogany, and trimmed in teak. The entire cockpit is beautifully crafted of teak as well. The deck features easy to maintain fiberglass. The boat has a 44 foot main mast with a Bristol furling boom and roller reefer. The mizzen mast stands 22 feet high. The boat comes with a complete set of sails, including: two genoas one jib main sail mizzen spinnaker and a chute scoop There are blue sail covers to protect the main and mizzen sails, and the sails have been expertly maintained and are in like new condition. Each sail has a sail-bag for storage and there is a head sail furling reefing system. The boat was designed by Eldredge-McInnis; a notable navel engineer and architect from Boston, Massachusetts. The boat has been sailed exclusively on Lake Michigan, and harbored in Michigan located in the Upper Peninsula. Each winter, the boat has been stored in a garage that was built specifically to protect it from the elements. It has been meticulously maintained and updated. The sailboat sails beautifully and effortlessly; its stability on the water is remarkable.
