Bavaria teamed up with BMW DesignworksUSA to produce a new, dashing and inspiring boat which is the 38 Sports. This chic cruiser combines practicality; engineering and seaworthiness with two other essential elements of any German sports conveyance — show and go.
Approaching the Sport 38 dockside, the most striking feature is its volume. A surprisingly high-sided boat with a spoon bow, it, the sharply raked windscreen and forward-facing targa arch.
Once aboard, the single-level cockpit presents as a nice setup for entertaining – there’s lots of seating, a wet bar with fridge, and plenty of places to lounge about. Sun worshippers are taken care of with a huge aft sun pad that lifts on gas struts, revealing cavernous storage.
The second cockpit sun pad or daybed is forward on the portside. It’s just aft of the windscreen, with extended swim platform inlaid with teak as is the cockpit soul and to finish off blue LED underwater lighting.
Power comes from a pair of Volvo Penta 5.7GXI petrol V8 engines rated at 320hp with only 103 hours use and matched to Aquamatic Duoprop. Don’t be daunted with berthing this vessel as it is fitted bow and stern thrusters with wireless control for ease of berthing.
The volume of much bigger boat 6’9” headroom, twin private spacious cabins which include upgraded bedding packages as well as a fully equipped galley large saloon with a light oak interior full stand up shower and electric head make this a most impressive and well appointed vessel which will not disappoint a real head turner.
