The original name of the vessel was the ‘Prospect of Whitby’. The vessel is the fourth of five of the same name built for Arthur Slater of England. Mr. Slater campaigned the vessel as one of three representing England in the Admiralty Cup. During Prospect of Whitby/WindsWay’s career the vessel has participated in the Fastnet, Bermuda, Marion-Bermuda, the original SORC and Australia’s Sidney-Hobart where she took her class.

Winds Way has been owned and maintained by the same family for twenty five years. The boat has been a family vessel with very little racing but did take the Family trophy in the 1989 Marion-Bermuda. The vessel has carried the family successfully and safely over 40,000 miles including trips to Bermuda and a circumnavigation.
