Custom Island Packet - VIXEN

VIXEN is Custom Island Packet offering a powerful sailing experience solo or with companions.

The original owner, a former IP Manager, purchased the hull of an IP 27 and added on the customized transom, aft cabin and mizzen mast, to handle a solo voyage.

Well priced.

Dimensions and Accommodations

VIXEN’s custom design was for an IP manager, who took VIXEN on a North West trip to Alaska and lived on it for a year. It is an IP 27 design that was extended ~3 feet to put in the aft cabin, which was used for storage. Additionally, the Anchor locker comes back far to first bulkhead so a mini-fridge could be put in.

An adjustment could be made to make this a full Vberth. There is a fixed bench sette on port side (typically this might be convertible space).

Vixen’s deck length at 29′-02″ plus 6 ft for pulpit.

Widest beam is just under 11′.

Draft 4 ft.

Sail Inventory and Rig

All sails are in good excellent condition. Mainsail, 130%Genoa on a roller furl, and the Mizzen sail. Main mast same as IP27 I – 35, J-12, P-30, E-13

She is a Sloop rig. Additionally, it is set up for Ketch rig. It has a Mizzen Mast with stays. However the wires were cut and would need to be re-wired. The rig is unusual, proportionally, for a yawl.  The mizzen is quite large, more appropriate to a ketch really.  It adds quite a bit of horsepower and flying the mizzen stays’l along with a spinnaker can really give you a turbo boost.

Engine:

The motor is a strong feature of the boat along with the very high quality sailing gear (winches, rig, sails all as new) it is a Perkins Perama diesel 29hp, these motors were used in lifeboats around Britain. The larger motor than the Yanmar fitted in production boats is a real plus from my point of view and the boat really motors well.

Tankage

Fuel tank-20gal.
Water-30gal.

Galley

Sink, Cabinetry, and Stove is propane equipped with  solinoid to shut down propane in emergency. The locker is ventilated. Located under seat in cockpit forward port side.

Price

The reason this is priced as it is, is that there are some area that need some cosmetic attention. The Hull Gel Coat is being completed by the current owner, particularly at the widest breadth where it is believed that during shipping the crating affected both sides’ paint. She needs some refinishing/repainting in certain areas. The Decks also need some sanding/refinishing.
