Silk 2 is one of successful cruiser racer series of Bashford Howinson yachts (then known as Sydney Yachts) designed by Murray, Burns and Dovel in 1994. These yachts dominated the international racing circuit in the mid 90’ winning the Fastnet race the Sydney Hobart and the Copa del Rey. Silk2 It had two owners since new , one British and one Italian. It was campaigned successfully in England and In the Med

Silk2 was winner of 2006 Cowes Week, 2nd in around Irland race, Winner of 1999 Giraglia Rolex cup and 3 Golfi in 2003, many other regattas such as IMS world, Middle sea race, Copa del rey.

It is still a very competitive boat in IRC and it is set up for cruising too making

 

Hull: single piece structure E glass over a preformed expanded foam core with Kevlar reinforcement and balsa core in crash zones, all bonded with vynilester resin. The interior structure is a large eglass structural grid which is mechanically bonded to the hull and includes the engine mountings and through which the keel is bolted and the rigging attached to.

New 2006 carbon rudder built to the designer specification

Hull painted oyster white awlgrip and superstructured polished in 2008
