Beneteau Moorings 382 - New arrival
The Beneteau Moorings 382 Islescape offers proven sailing performance in a very seaworthy hull. Designed originally for the Moorings Charter Company, the 382 is the sister ship to the very successful Beneteau 381, designed by Berret/Racoupeau. This boat was built in Marion, SC (USA), and has benefited from various upgrades, such as the brand-new transmission just installed. Here's a testimonial description offered up by a 10-year owner from the East Coast: The thing is a total tank. I feel so secure with the double spreader rig with lowers, intermediates, and uppers...10 pieces of rigging holding my mast up. The wheel is perfect, the barn door rudder shaft support and bearings are suitable for 747 landing gear, the cockpit is wonderful (the best place for sunlit breakfasts), and in case you haven't noticed, the opening ports are heavy cast Aluminum Amiot (not some light duty plastic things), the side windows are fastened with half a million screws through a heavy bezel, and the Amiot overhead hatches are built like see-through bricks. The bulkheads are all tight and bonded all round, and the keel is held on with many many very heavy bolts. Well, put simply, I can't buy another Beneteau like it. There are lots nicer, but as passage maker (14 Atlantic crossings) and boat reviewer John Kretchmer told me, this is one of the top budget boats that he would use to circumnavigate on. He did an Atlantic crossing on the same non charter hull, and remarked that it was a very good sea boat. Islescape will delight her owners with an excellent combination of responsive sailing and cruising comfort. Whether you're headed out for a daysail, to the San Juan Islands, or ports beyond Tatoosh, she'll take you where you need to go safely and in fashion. The boat is now moored at our display moorage dock in the North Basin at Port of Everett Marina. Accommodations Forward is a generous V-berth stateroom with a hanging locker, a small bench and a private head. The main salon features a U-shaped dining area around an oval table with a large settee on the port side. Aft of the salon is the galley with double stainless steel sinks, with pressurized hot/cold water, a two-burner propane stove/oven, a large front-loading refrigerator and a top-loading freezer. A second head/toilet is opposite the galley and a large double berth is found aft. The interior volume is quite substantial for a boat this size, with headroom in the main salon at 6'6". Cockpit This boat features a large cockpit for her size with teak-slatted seats all around. Large lockers offer ample storage. The steering wheel console houses all electronics. A cockpit table with folding flaps seats six for dinner. The helm seat flips down to allow access to the generous swim step (walk-through transom). Electronics/Electrical Sails/Rigging Additional
