Pearson 39-2 - Custom Shoal Draft Keel

BIG NEW YEAR MARKDOWN TO $39,900

Since acquiring this Pearson 39-2 in 2006, her owner has had but one goal in mind -- to make ALKAPRIM as strong and versatile a bluewater passagemaker as he could. Besides rebuilding and reinforcing the deck in critical load areas, he shortened the keel from the original 6'10" draft to 5'9", compensating for the weight reduction by mounting a Mars Metal 1,250 lbs cast lead torpedo bulb to the keel's bottom. This enhanced ALKAPRIM's range into shallow areas of the Bahamas and the Caribbean. All this paid off, and since 2007, ALKAPRIM has made stops from Bermuda to St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Panama, Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, and Cuba. ALKAPRIM will convey with a Voyager servo-pendulum self-steering vane, E-Z Kold refrigeration with a custom extra-large cold plate, ICOM SSB, Lofrans windlass, Garmin electronics, including color GPS chartplotter and radar, two Kyocera 185-watt solar panels, a KISS wind generator, and an 11-foot 3-inch Spindrift nesting dinghy that stows in less than 6 feet of deck space. ALKAPRIM is now stored for hurricane season and is available for your out-of-water inspection. While you're at it, be sure to check out her blister-free bottom -- thanks to five coats of Interprotect 2000 barrier coat, applied back in 2008. A comprehensive timeline of ALKAPRIM'S extensive structural and equipment upgrades is available.

The Pearson 39-2 was designed to provide occupants with a spacious central living and entertaining area. A large dinette opens to accommodate six comfortably, yet can be left with its two leaves down to afford easy passage forward and aft through the salon. The galley and forward-facing nav station are situated opposite each other, immediately aft of the salon area. Entry to the aft cabin, with its double berth, is from the starboard galley side, with entry to the aft head from the port nav station side. In between are the companionway stairs, behind which is the engine compartment. There's a forward cabin arranged as a V-berth just ahead of the forward head. Both the port and starboard salon settees can also be used as berths as needed.
