John Simpson Design 40 Steel Pilothouse Cutter
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A STEEL BOAT THIS IS A MUST SEE. This beautiful steel cutter has just completed a around the world voyage and is ready to keep on going. The bottom has just been painted and she is ready to be relauched and head south for the winter. This design was commissioned by a couple who wanted an offshore pilothouse cutter under 40', draft less than 6', and 6'-4" headroom. The hull is of double chine steel construction with performance and directional stability enhanced by a moderately long fin keel (which permits 'drying out') and a large skeg mounted rudder Hull topsides are fitted with a beveled section to lower the apparent freeboard and yet maintain adequate height for standing headroom. The sail plan features a powerful masthead cutter rig with mainsail slab reefing and headsails on furling systems. The forestay can be removed to facilitate sailing in protected waters. V-Berth is forward with plenty of storage in drawers, cabinets and lockers, next is a starboard U-Shaped settee with a work bench and storage to port. Aft of this, is the galley with a double stainless steel sink, refrigeration, range and plenty of storage. Starboard of galley is the head and shower. Up three steps to the pilot house, on port is the nav station, inside helm centerline, on starboard is the dinette table followed by a double quarter berth on starboard. Eight 2-speed Hella Fans Nine Alpen Glow Cabin Lights, three with red and white bulbs
