Herreshoff H-28 - New arrival

L.Francis Herreshoff designed the Herreshoff H-28 in the early 1940's.  This design was built in many Countries and yards around the world, she is a perfect balance of seaworthy, roominess, and speed.    BLYTHE SPIRIT was built in 1983 by the respected  Parkins Yard, one of 30 custom built yachts....  with fiberglass hull.    However, this boat remains true to its heritage, with teak deck and mahogany detailing below.

For a 28 foot sailboat,  BLYTHE SPIRIT has generous headroom below - in addition to sleeping arrangements for four.  This newly listed boat represents a wonderful value, with New engine 2008, Main with 2012 Stackpack, New batteries, she's ready to go !

V-Berth forward with mahogany paneling, drawers and cabinets;  Teak  and translucent Plexiglas opening skylight hatch.,   Head immediately aft (port side) with marine head, opening port, and dorade above (each dorade box is baffled teak with 3" brass cowl).  The main cabin has port and starboard settee berths with five storage cabinets and five storage shelves.  Three brass oil lanterns.  Mahogany drop leaf table with seating for four adults.  Galley to starboard with two pantry lockers, stainless steel sink with foot pump, and garbage/recycle bin; empty area where two burner gimbaled stove could be installed.  Icebox to port (five cubic foot icebox with minimum 5" insulation.)  In the main cabin there are four opening ports; all six ports are Hood stainless steel, and have screens.  Teak companionway hatch on stainless steel runners.  Louvered main hatch board with screen, and solid double boards for weather.  The cockpit is self-bailing (scuppers drain through transom)  and has a teak grate floor with two large sail lockers below (which can be locked from inside the cabin.)
