CONSTRUCTION                            

Built in 1980.   GRP construction with green topsides (original gelcoat) and grey decks, lifting keel, 2 berth interior with sitting headroom, gaff sloop rig.

SAILS  & RIG:                          

Mainsail (Rockall, 2004) with mainsail cover.   Furling system with No 1 Jib (2010).   Mainsail reefing.   All lines led aft to cockpit.   Stainless steel standing rigging (new 2011).   Spruce mast and boom.

ENGINE:                                           

5hp Tohatsu outboard engine with long shaft.   Engine mounted in cockpit well.   Remote 5 gallon tank/   3 blade propeller. 

FUEL & WATER:                              

Fuel capacity  5 gallon

DECK GEAR:                             

New cockpit cover, winter cover, transom hung boarding ladder, tiller, 2 sheet winches, Bruce main anchor with 50ft of chain and warp, Bruce kedge anchor, mooring warps and fenders.

SAFETY GEAR:                          

Safety harness, Whale type manual bilge pump.

NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT:        Compass (loose fitted when required), NASA echo sounder (removable), windvane at masthead, radar reflector, clock and barometer, oil anchor lamp.

DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT:           

Red berth cushions.

ACCOMMODATION:                            

2 berths in single open plan cabin.

REMARKS:                               

“Swallow” was purchased new in 1980 by her current owner in kit form from Cornish Crabbers.   She was first launched in 1981 and has mainly been sailed single handed.   Her owner has explored the East Coast from the River Deben to the Crouch and has mainly stored her ashore under a cover during winter months.    Her mainsail was replaced 10 years ago and her jib 3 years ago.  Her standing rigging has been replaced over 10 year periods, last renewing in 2011.   Her mast/spars have been regularly varnished but the boat has been sailed rather than “polished” so the topsides are rather faded (but original!).
