Freya 39

The Freya 39 is a great example of a fast cruising sail yacht.  Easily covers 200+ miles per day and was modelled on the original yacht Freya, famous as the three time consecutive winner of the notoriously difficult Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race (1963-1965), until recently the only yacht ever to do so.

She was designed as a cutter with a large sail area and hull-stepped mast. She’s heavily constructed with thick layers of fibreglass in the hull.  The designers were not believers in modern racing hulls or the practice of using crew as ballast so below the waterline she has a long flat-bottomed led fin keel with a substantially cutaway forefoot and a keel hung rudder.  The hull was built in 1978, but the yacht was only launched in 1995 after a 17 year build project by a very skilled and fussy engineer who was the owner/builder in a yard at Bodega Bay, California.

Plenty of work has been done in recent years including a new Isuzu 240 Turbo Diesel engine, RIB with 2 new outboard engines, Life Raft, Portable Honda 1000w Generator, and the list goes on.  This Freya 39 is well kitted out with too many extras and spare parts to list everything out here.  Read on for the full specifications.

Note; viewings can only take place when the owners are in Singapore.  They are currently on a work contract in Europe and will return in April.  The next available viewing time will be middle of April 2015.
