Little Harbor 50 Aft Cockpit Sloop - New Carbon Mast-Lightly Used

MAJOR PRICE REDUCTION REFLECTS THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE SELLER

Perhaps more than any other designer of our time, Ted Hood has changed sailing for the good. Besides his inventions, like furling jibs and furling main sails, not to mention also shoal draft ocean cruising yachts with "whale belly underbodies, Ted Hood raised the bar of what quality is and should be in a well designed, great sailing, beautifully constructed offshore sailing yacht.

When anyone who knows anything about what the best of the best built and most beautiful yachts ever launched, Little Harbor has always raised to the top, just like cream does. The attention to detail, to design, to execution; when one looks at a Little Harbor, they stare and keep staring and then they dream.

Our very special offering is a 1983 Ted Hood designed and built Little Harbor 50 sloop with a new carbon fiber mast, new boom with Leisure furl system and hydraulic vang. There is new rod rigging, new Vectron sails, new running rigging, new electronics, new batteries, new varnish, and new canvas. She has been very lightly cruised mostly only around New England , and has only a little over 1100 original engine hours on her. In any sense of the word, she does not in any way, look some 30 years old. She looks better than most 10 year old boats do.

“Tenagra” as she’s called is a two full stateroom, two bath, with a ships office, a very large workable kitchen and a dining salon area which is beyond comfortable and functional. The Little Harbor 50 is capable of sailing to anywhere, and with her shoal draft capabilities, she can get way inside where other 50 footers can’t go. With her centerboard down, she’ll stand stiff and go to weather with the best of them.

“Tenagra” has been extremely well cared for. Her glued on (no screws) teak decks look almost new. Everything on her has been professionally maintained and she has been constantly upgraded regardless of cost.

She offers full heat and air conditioning, great refrigeration, and a large generator. There’s lots of space to live the good life aboard, and one will definitely, when they dingy away from her, keep her owners eyes affixed to her sheer beauty, with her beautifully proportioned house which feathers to wafer thinness over the last eight feet. Her sheerline has to be one of the nicest that has ever been drawn. Her black hull shines, her stainless glistens, her teak has a mirror finish and her white spars make her look ever so proper. She looks beautiful.

Great cruising gear is aboard, she has electric winches, powerful bow thruster, massive windlass and ground tackle, liferaft, spares, besides 100s of other important big ticket items. "Tenagra" will always stand out in a crowd, for she is, a true "timeless classic".

“Tenagra” is ready to depart to anywhere today. She is a wonderful opportunity for anyone looking for a yacht of quality, substance and style.

Several weeks ago, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, I was in the yacht club launch with a half dozen other folks, heading out to inspect "Tenagra". Upon getting closer to "Tenagra", every single person said in harmony, "what a beautiful boat, its my favorite boat in the harbor"...It's easy see why that is true. Highlights include the 2007 upgrades galore with new carbon fiber mast, new Leisurefurl boom, Rod rigging, new running rigging, radar pole mount, all new Raymarine Radar, GPS, Plotter and sailing instruments, new Vectran sails, full batten in boom furling mainsail and furling genoa, and a brand new dodger in 2012! Tenagra is gorgeous!

All photos of her were taken on that trip....enjoy the full specs and come see Tenagra at the Annapolis Fall Sailboat Show in the first ever brokerage show!

HULL, DECK, & GROUND TACKLE

Ted Hood's classic hull shape "whale belly underbody" with its sharp entry and flowing aft sections, keel

centerboard configuration is proven! She is one of the prettiest sailing vessels you can ever see with her high bow and beautiful flowing sheerline as only Ted draws them. The Little Harbor 50 is proved a long legged, powerful sailer with solid windward performance. While her displacement of 43,200 lbs and sail area to displacement of 16.32 gives her the ability to stand up and go. The centerboard fully lowered gives her 11.5 ft draft for remarkable windward performance. The centerboard has a highly effective foil shape constructed of fiberglass using a two part female mold. The board is ballasted and the area around the pin is reinforced and solid glass. The board has a bronze shoe protecting the leading edge. The rudder is a balanced spade engineered with a retractable lower section so that when the board is down, the rudder can provide fingertip control. And board up, she'll sneak into your back yard with a 5.5 depth!

The construction of Little Harbor is renowned for quality and craftsmanship. The hull is fiberglass with Airex foam core above the waterline for strength and insulation. All the bulkheads and furniture are built of marine grade plywood reinforced with fiberglass and solidly glassed into the hull the way all real boats are built. The highest quality materials are used in the build process from Vinylester resins to excellent stainless steel and the finest wood. No expense is spared in building a yacht of the highest quality. The massive teak rubrail extends bow to stern accentuating the sheer line. The deck is solid glass reenforced at all of the places where deck hard where is attached and cored with Divinycell H-80 for strength and rigidity. The build quality of Little Harbor is equal to all the very best builders, Hallberg Rassy, Morris, and Hinckley. It is the best of the best that the world has to offer.
