Stephens Trumpy-Style Motoryacht

Stephens were all expensive custom builds, and this particular example was the second built for her original owner; he incorporated everything he'd learned from the first boat and Ranger truly is a masterpiece. With major refits in 1997 and 2011 (about $800,000 was spent, as well as a tremendous amount of sweat equity), she's been updated throughout but of course retains the stately traditional lines for which Stephens was so well known and is in boat show condition today.  A vessel such as this comes on the market only occasionally and Ranger must be seen to be appreciated.

Some highlights: Awlgripped hull with freshly glassed cabintop and new teak decks (the decks alone cost over $100,000 and are BEAUTIFUL!), Vosper stabilizers, new heavy duty Falcon windlass, twin naturally aspirated Detroit Diesel 6-71, Kohler genset, new batteries, vessel largely rewired and replumbed including VacuFlush heads and new fresh water tanks, new pumps for all four reverse cycle CruisAir units, new color chartplotter, interior totally refit in the late 1990s including refinished woodwork, remodeled galley (note the hand laid teak sole) and new canvas/carpets/cushions/curtains, etc, etc, etc. 

Note that in 2012 the vessel earned a USCG Certificate of Inspection for chartering. Any vessel that's a candidate for a COI is absolutely put under a microscope before it passes; Ranger has been through the functional equivalent of a dozen buyer's survey over the past 18 months or so(and the modifications necessary for the COI were so well designed and implemented that they in no way detract from the look and feel of a private yacht).

Also note that the boat is lying in a transferable Ballena Bay A-Dock slip with a view, and the harbormaster has indicated that they will consider allowing a liveaboard.

Enter vessel at pilothouse sliding doors either port or starboard, pilothouse slightly forward of amidship.  Pilothouse has bench seat with centerline steering and a small day head.Aft of house is galley port and starboard, continue aft to salon and far aft to enclosed aft deck. Note that all the living areas are on same level, this layout was a hallmark of the classic Trumpys built back east.

Down forward from pilothouse starboard side to fully self-contained crew quarters including V-berths, head and stall shower, galley with dinette, and access to  a spotless and beautifully laid out engine room.

Owner's and guest stateroom down staircase starboard aft part of the salon with the guest stateroom being far aft with twin beds and a private head. The beam-to-beam master stateroom is just forward of the quest stateroom and has a walk-around queen size bed and ensuite head.

Note that the interior has been almost totally updated including beautifully refinished bright and shows Bristol.
