Glen-L Argosy 42 Trawler

LADY GALADRIEL is a Glen-L Marine Argosy 42 design and was professionally built by Barney's Boats Inc., Erieau, Ontario. She was built using West System epoxy-saturated Douglas Fir framing with laminated double and triple diagonal marine plywood shell, and epoxy saturated fibreglass hull sheathing. She is a traditionally styled yacht capable of extensive cruising in comfort. Her range and sea-keeping ability will appeal to the cruising skipper, while her simple, straightforward, but rugged construction will appeal to the skipper who wants the most for his money.

Her design features two cabins giving total privacy to her skipper and guest parties. Each double cabin features separate access, big berths, and complete bathroom facilities. Her huge beam allows for an abundance of locker, shelf, and storage space not found on most yachts of this size. Her pilothouse is equal to that on a 60-footer and comes with a centerline helm for full circle visibility, access to either side of the vessel, a large flat chart table, a settee-berth, and plenty of storage space for navigation equipment, charts, and foul weather gear.

Her spacious deckhouse has large glass areas that are well sheltered by the deck overhang. The U-shaped galley is a model of convenience and efficiency. The full-size fridge with freezer is located for access to ease loading, while the stovetop is countertop mounted in an area usually wasted in most designs. The "chef" can mingle with the rest of the crew and yet be out of the traffic lane. A comfortable portside settee coupled with a stereo cabinet makes deckhouse entertaining a pleasure. A hi-lo table allows everyone to view the scenery while eating.

LADY GALADRIEL is a stay-at-sea vessel in all respects. Aft of her deckhouse is a roomy cockpit with provisions for an emergency tiller. Access forward is by way of wide walk-around decks. A ladder leads to a spacious boat deck complete with a mast and boom for easy dinghy and light cargo handling.
