The interior finish of ‘Taz’ was chosen in teak veneer instead of the more common Cheery being used to cut costs on many new production boats today. Teak has proven over many decades to be more durable, more forgiving, and more comfortable an interior veneer than the newer option of cherry, which has a tendency to water stain. A high quality plastic laminate floor that appears so similar to traditional teak’n’holly flooring is far more durable, and easier to keep looking great. All thorough-out the joinery work is strong and well fitted, with so much storage you will never remember where you put it all. This boat is available with both a lifting keel, or as in this example, with a powerful fixed keel. The advantages to this fixed keel choice go beyond having a simpler boat structurally – on to providing a MASSIVE amount of storage in the centreboard trunk on centreline, arranged as a pedestal for the large dinning table, and fitted with handrails for security at sea. As opposed to what is seen in many modern boats, with large open floor space and no handholds, it’s easy to see why this is the more seaworthy choice – storage, security, and an open feel too.
