Ericson Cruising 36C

Equis is the ideal boat for a day sail with family and friends or an extended transatlantic voyage. Her rig is heavy-duty; the substantial aluminum knees that support the shrouds gird the hull interior. The outboard rudder puts steering effort at its most efficient position. Her keel is molded integrally into the hull eliminating worry about deteriorating keel bolts or a compromised keel-to-hull joint.

Equis enormous fantail cockpit alone can accommodate 10 people seated comfortably. Additionally, her rail-to-rail flush deck is 100% usable. The flush deck also facilitates a massive interior; seating for 8 around the salon table, 2 private cabins for owner, (double), and guests, (v-berth), plus additional sleeping accommodation, (2 single berths with lee cloths), in the salon. In addition to the six fixed oval hull ports, there are two screened opening hatches, (v-berth and owners cabin), a huge screened double sugarbox hatch, (salon), two screened opening ports in aft cabin and 2 dorade vents providing lots of ventilation. All hatches are protected by easily-removable navy blue Sunbrella covers depending on how much sun...or shade is needed.

Lots and lots and lots of storage space throughout too. The V-berth has 2 hanging lockers, bow locker, 2 drawers and under-berth bulk storage. Salon has double mahogany trimmed shelves around its perimeter and bulk storage beneath both settees. Galley has 3 cupboards, 3 shelves and 2 drawers. There is additional sole-level bulk storage at the base of the oven. Owners cabin has 1 hanging locker, drawer, shelf and cabinet storage at the nav station and two additional drawers built into the aft cabin wall. The nav station settee will slide completely into the aft cabin wall when not in use. Additional mega-storage space for PFDs, cockpit cushions, etc., is found starboard of the double berth. The head has double cabinet, under cabinet, shelf and bulk storage areas. The cockpit has four storage lockers/lazarettes.

Additionally notable is the fact that Equis does not suffer from the condensation problems that many boats have in the late evening/early morning hours. This is due to the fact her entire interior is clad in wood, insulating materials or fabric...mostly wood. Aside from keeping the interior quiet, these surfaces do not promote the condensation of moisture.

The two cylinder Westerbeke diesel engine is a honey. Engine was rebuilt 2013. She starts every time, sips fuel, is clean burning and will push Equis, without objection, all day. Cruising speed with the Borg Warner transmission (new in 2003) is approx. 5.5 knots.

The mahogany cabin features 6 berths, 2 forward in the Vee, 2 in the main cabin and 2 aft in the quarter cabin which also houses the nav station to starboard. 2 dorade vents, 1 opening port, and 3 deck hatches provide good lighting and ventilation. The head is located just forward of the aft cabin. The galley just to starboard of the companionway. Aft Cabin is accessed through a door on the starboard side.
