William Frost Downeast Style Lobster Yacht - MALLORY K

MALLORY K is an exquisite example of a Downeast style Lobster Yacht with an exceptional pedigree, a careful rebuild by her current owner ~20 years ago at Strouts Point Wharf in Freeport and diligently maintained every since. She was re-powered in 2005 with a new Yanmar diesel (now with approximately 240 hours).

MALLORY K boasts beautiful lines, crisp colors, and rich appointments. Designed by William "Pappy" Frost who was also referred to as the "Wizard of Beals", and is largely credited as the originator of this style boat, MALLORY K is steeped in boat building history.

Construction

Vessel was rebuilt by Strouts Point Wharf in Freeport, ME.

Hull is Carvel cedar planking, oak frames, keel backbone and floor timbers with bronze screw fastenings. Deck is marine plywood epoxied with Dynel and teak overlay.

Superstructure - varnished mahogany walls. Roof on fore cabin and forward part of pilot house are marine ply eopxied with Dynel. Aft part of pilot house is covered with canvas cover on varnished roof beams with bronze rod.

Trunk cabins are varnished mahogany.  Hull is black and a white Boottop and a red bottom.  Transom is varnished.  

3 deck storage lockers/seats in cockpit. 

Self-bailing cockpit has a fir sole.  

Accommodations

The interior is bright and airy and finished in bright mahogany and white paint with 3 opening ports and 2 fixed windows on either side and over head light prisms.

Rode locker and stowage right forward followed by settee berths port and starboard with backrests that may be converted to pipe berths.

There is a folding table in the cockpit. 

Full Galley with Force 10 two-burner propane stove with oven on gimbals with cutting board insert and pot holders with propane control panel with sensor and alarm. SS sink in galley integral to counter with hot and cold pressure water and saltwater backup foot pump faucet.

The enclosed head with manual WC and Corian counter/sink with hot and cold pressure water is aft to port.

Engine

  • 2005 Yanmar turbo charged, 315 hp, 6-cyl. diesel, model #6LPA-5TP2 is reported to be in excellent condition. 
  • Cruising speed 14-16 knots, maximum speed 18-20 knots. 
  • Engine meter reads ~248 Fall 2014
