The Wasque 26 is a versatile family boat that combines high technology with proven traditional design aesthetics and seakeeping ability. The Wasque 26 traces its lineage to the Downeast-style Bass Boats built to ply the often-boisterous waters of Buzzard\'s Bay and Nantucket Sound. In the 1970s, the renowned John Alden Co. was asked to design a versatile, fiberglass bass / picnic boat incorporating the best features of the classic New England Bass Boat with an aesthetically pleasing, easily driven hull form. Wasque 26s were finished by a variety of builders, some for commercial use, but mostly as family picnic and fishing boats.
