Oyster 45
The Oyster 45 was designed by Holman and Pye to replace the legendary 435, and did so with aplomb. With greatly enhanced interior volume, the 45 feels a lot more spacious. Retaining the single skin hull construction, keel-stepped mast, and full length rudder skeg, the 45 went over to an external lead bulb keel, improving stability without deepening the draft. The 45 is a proven circumnavigator, but also a great size for local cruising as she is simplicity itself to handle. ‘Time Is’ is a rare two cabin version of the 45, offering two superb staterooms each with a large en-suite head/shower. The saloon offers another couple of seaberths if needed, whilst like all 45s she boasts the popular walk-in locker aft of the chart table. ‘Time Is’ also features the preferred larger engine, an 88hp Yanmar on a shaft drive. Lightly used for Mediterranean cruising by her current owner, she is a great example and is usefully positioned in the the south of France. Viewing is recommended! OWNER’S COMMENTS Having sailed the south coast of England and France for several years we purchased TIME IS berthed in Antibes with the intention of sailing a heavier yacht firstly in the Mediterranean and then undertaking a round the world cruise. Sailing in the Mediterranean with its coves, harbours and marinas made easily accessible with the yachts shallow two meter draft and bow thruster, finding the weather and ambiance so idyllic we didn’t need to go further in achieving our dream. The yacht sails beautifully, safely and very comfortably in even the worst conditions we encountered being ideally setup with its in mast furling, genoa and cruising chute perfect for long distance shorthanded cruising or on lazy days, local sailing along the French Riviera, or with a fore team sailing with the spinnaker through italic waters of Italy and Croatia. The accommodation is perfectly suited when sailing by ourselves, entertaining family or friends, the layout designed by the previous owner is extremely comfortable, the light American oak joinery is quite stunning, for its size it offers ample storage and with the washing machine and living space arrangement of two master cabins and options for two settee berths in the saloon and two on deck berths within a cockpit enclosure if required makes living on board pleasurable. We have ensured that the yacht has been meticulously maintained, serviced regularly and no expense spared with the fitting of many extras during our ownership. The owners are now selling due to their age and lack of time to use the boat.
