Elan Impression 494

The Elan 494 was designed by Rob Humphries to deliver a consistently pleasurable sailing experience with fast cruising and easy handling, even when short-handed. The hull design is matched by an optimal rig and sail area, ensuring the yacht is stable and safe in every sea condition. She has a very high pointing ability without sacrificing downwind performance.

There is accommodation for 10 in 4 cabins and the saloon. There is a master cabin forward, a pair of doubles aft, a crew cabin with Pullman bunks and a saloon table that makes a very comfortable double. With space for all of those people, the 3 heads make life aboard comfortable.

The large U-shaped galley is forward of the saloon, to port and there is a full sized navigation table at the end of the starboard setee.

Easy handling is helped by the twin wheel - twin rudder system, delivering better control and handling even in extreme conditions. The self-tacking jib system, a through-deck furling genoa and furling gennaker keep you moving in all but the very lightest zephyrs.

The deck layout is designed to allow the helmsman to trim the sails himself, with all sheets run back to two winches directly in front of each steering wheel.

This particular Elan 494 has a great layout, with a master cabin forward - with an en-suite heads and shower, twin aft cabins and a pair of Pullman berths. The saloon table can be lowered to make another large double bed and is large enough to comfortably seat everyone that can sleep on board.

There are 3 further heads compartments with showers and hot water.

The saloon has the galley at the forward end with one of the heads opposite and a large chart table amidships to starboard.

The large U-shaped galley has a double sink, a fridge, freezer, stove with oven and a lot of storage, as you would expect for a boat with this number of berths.

Entertainment comes from the Radio/CD player and the TV with built in DVD player
