Scott Motorsailer - ONE OFF - CUSTOM BUILD

FINALE is a one off Steel Motorsailer built in New Zealand by Mr. David Stuart Scott of Marine Metal Fabrication, Auckland, New Zealand.  Her hull design is by Bob Birdsall, Naval Architect of New Zealand. 

Mr. Scott built Finale for his family to use, building the boat around a Gardner Diesel engine built in Manchester, England. This boat was his “final” one of the three he constructed. He did all the welding personally and most of the entire construction in his back yard.  Mr. Scott had owned and operated Marine Metal Fabrication for 35 years in Auckland, N.Z. and was involved with the Americas Cup competitions won by New Zealand.

FINALE was documented and launched in 1992 in Auckland New Zealand and sailed there by the Scott family for 8 years until the year 2000, when it was sold to an American from Longmont, CO. The new owner kept her in New Zealand and Mr. Scott continued to care for her and perform several modifications and upgrades until 2004. 

In 2004 FINALE was documented as a United States Vessel and shipped to the United States. In 2006 the standing and running rigging was modified and she was sailed from Sidney, BC. down the US coast to join the 2006 Baja Ha Ha, sailing to Mexico. She remained in Mexico until July, 2013, when she was returned to San Diego, CA. 

The vessel has been thoroughly  maintained and well cared for during its’ entire life. The entire boat was repainted in New Zealand in 2004, and again in Mazatlan in 2005.
