Uniflite Sport Fisherman

Amigo, is a completely restored and rebuilt 1968 Uniflite 23 Sport Fisherman.  The sons of Uniflite founder and designer Arthur Nordtvedt purchased and professionally rebuilt this fine example of a Uniflite Sport Fisherman.  Purchased in 2011, the pre-blister fiberglass hull and deck were fund to be in excellent conditon, but the machinery, electrical and interior components were largely shot or missing.

The initial reconstruction involved stripping the interior and all aged components, including tanks, running gear, windows, wiring and piping.  

The only items saved were the fiberglass components. The first order of restoration was repairing the dings and scratches in glass components; the bilges were cleaned and re-painted and the exterior hull and deck buffed and restored to like-new condition. 

Virtually every hardware component was removed and reintalled or replaced, utilizing the same or smilar item wherever practical.

A new Crusader 5.7-liter (350 cid) HO EFI engine rated 330 hp was installed together with a new ZF model 45 V-drive transmission. New fuel tanks, shaft, strut, and propeller were installed, including dripless shaft seal on the drive line.  All new cooling system; fuel lines valves and filters; exhaust system components were installed and the combusion air inlet and engine room exhaust fans were renewed.  New steering, throttle & clutch control linkage and trim tab components were installed.

The original windows were removed and replaced with a modern aluminum-framed tempered-glass window system.  Fixed windshield glass and opening side windows.  Originally built as an open cabin arrangement to the cockpit, an new aft cabin bulkhead with a water-tight door was added to allow for year-round fishing and cruising.  The cabin interior was rebuilt with new joinerwork.

The electrical system including wiring, breakers, switches, batteries and non-functioning components were renewed.

A 9.9 hp Yamaha trolling motor outboard was added, together with an electronic remote steering system and an electric-powered transom bracket for the outboard.  A Furno dual frequency depth sounder with a 1-kW flush mount transducer is installed.

The galvanized tandem-axle trailer is also included.
