OCEAN WANDERER design is actually a modification of the Contest 44 by DICK ZAAL, renowned Dutch designer of CONTEST yachts for 30 years, and as the name invokes, ocean passages requirements and sea-worthiness are the main concern behind this yacht’s concept; thus the special emphasis on a stronger hull, prevention in case of container-collisions or similar mishaps.

With a center-cockpit, spacious deck and interior layouts, she is not only a strong fast Blue-Water cruiser but also a very comfortable live-aboard yacht.

This particular model was commissioned by the current owner in 2009 and professionally built to CE norms, strictly following the instructions of the architect Mr. Zaal.

The round bilge wooden strip-planking hull was firstly built on template frames and vacuum sheathed in and out with Aramid & high modulus fibers using epoxy resin. The thickness of wooden core is 27mm and the total hull thickness is minimum 45 mm on the topsides increasing to 120mm at the stem. The finishing topcoat is in INTERNATIONAL oyster-white color paint over epoxy filler.

The bullet-proof hull is in perfect condition – plans and photos under construction are available.

With her 6.2 Tons of ballast and round hull shape, she has a calculated POSITIVE STABILITY   of 150 degrees, which can hardly be surpassed by any yachts in the market.

Despite the heavy structure, her sailing performance is excellent even in light winds.

Due to pressing family matters, the seller had to abandon his original plans of circumnavigation and she is now awaiting another caring, discerning owner.
