The trawler yacht "LuSeal" is a George Buehler  "Diesel Duck 38" design built by Wayne Shibley Wooden Boats LLC in conventional wood construction, finished in 2013. We added a midship frame to lengthen it to 40 feet.
LuSeal was built with 1-1/2" clear vertical grain Douglas Fir planking fastened to DF framing and backbone with silicone bronze screws and bolts. There is a oak worm shoe the length of the keel.

Power comes from a John Deere 4045 DFM naturally aspirated marine diesel of 80 h.p. driving through a ZF Hurth gear with a 2.78 to 1 reduction. Propeller is a 26x 20 giving a max speed of 10 mph and cruise of 8 mph with fuel consumption at 1 g.p.h. The engine is keel cooled and has a dry exhaust. Propeller is bronze and the shaft is stainless steel.

Decks are Doug Fir t&g boards with 2 layers of plywood glued and nailed giving a deck thickness of 1-1/2". This deck was then covered with 3 layers of 12 oz. Vectra cloth in epoxy. Cabin tops are the same construction with the addition of 1" of foam insulation.

Steering is hydraulic and the rudder is welded steel plate construction.

Handrails extend all around the boat and are made of welded stainless steel pipe. The windshield is 1/2" plate glass and all other fixed windows are 1/2" plexiglass. Opening port lights are SS with glass and were made by Newfound Metals. There is a pulpit/ bowsprit with 2 rollers for the Delta and Claw anchors. Rodes are 300' nylon 5/8" three strand with 40' of chain.

The interior is divided by watertight bulkheads into 3 areas.
The forward area has a cabin with 2 bunks, then to port is a washroom with sink, head and shower. The dinette is next on the port side and it can convert to a double berth. On the starboard side is the galley with counter, cabinets, refrigerator, sink and stove with oven. AC and DC  Blue Sea electrical panels with breakers are on starboard side aft. Water tanks, and holding tank are in forward bilge.
The middle compartment is engine room with pilot house above. The engine room has a 250 gallon fuel tank each side. There is a starting battery here with switch, Racor fuel filter, hot water tank, hydronic cabin heater, and Fireboy fire extinguisher system.
Pilot house has helm station with engine controls ,gage panel , chartploter/sounder/GPS and VHF radio. There is a swivel seat at helm and a couch that can be used as a berth .
Aft cabin has Queen size berth and washroom with head, shower and sink. There is a couch on starboard side that can be used as a berth.
Cabin soles and trim are solid cherry and paneling ,doors and cabinets are Doug Fir.
There is a mast for a steadying sail. Spotlight and temporary mast for nav lights.
