Brewer Offshore Custom Cutter
SPINDRIFT is an aft-cockpit offshore cutter, designed by Ted Brewer (plans are available), and built in 1991 by Top Service, Inc in Manila Philippines, returned in 2013 from he Mediterranean, Caribbean and Bahamas. She is at present in South Harpswell, Maine, on the hard, and is seriously for sale. This vessel is an exceptionally well-built, heavy displacement cutter. The present owners, her third owners, purchased her in Florida in 1997 and have enjoyed sailing her for her intended purpose to go offshore. She has a spacious 2 cabin, 2 head layout, new, wide teak decks installed in 2008-2009 with no bungs, and an extensive equipment list. DOCUMENTATION and CHARTER POTENTIAL:
Waiver of Jones Act requirement that vessels engaged in coastwise trade must be built in the U.S. This waiver granted to vessel (not owner) in 2002. SPINDRIFT can therefore be chartered by any owner in eastern U.S. waters, USVI and Puerto Rico.
HULL & DECK &EXTERIOR:
- Presently very well equipped for a circumnavigation and offers two separate cabins with two heads, as well as spacious man salon with an abundance of lockers; also, a very complete U-shaped galley followed aft by a nav area with swing-out seat.
- Hull is fiberglass-end grained balsa cored construction with longitudinal stiffeners and frames.
