Salona 37/ X-37

The Salona 37 is similar to the X 37. The boat performs extremely well. You can easier steer this 37 feet boat with full genua and mainsail in a solid close haul than you keep your car on track on the motorway. The Salona only needs two fingers on the wheel and it reacts promptly. In the cockpit you find Harken everywhere and there is ample space.

Winches and handles work fine and are placed precisely where they should be. Consequently, you must take off your south-wester for Salona’s sailing qualities which to a considerable degree will remind you of something between the Swedish Arcona and the Danish X-Yacht.

Seller informs us that he and his son have sailed from Elsinore to the island of Anholt – a stretch of 55 nautical miles at a speed of 14 knots. All the way, the boat performed well, nice and easy on the rudder. 

The tall stem of the Salona, apart from rendering the boat beautiful lines, secures dry sailing. If you take part in races, you will appreciate the possibility to throw the thwart abaft on shore before leaving.

Chain plate as well as mast is mounted directly onto the long, solid bottom frame going all the way past the engine under the stairs, making the boat stable and secure. More than 20 layers of fibre glass in the hull construction also makes the Salona a boat that would be very uncomfortable for a sleeping whale to come too close to in the waterline.

Considering the above mentioned, you will see the obvious reason why the Salona 37 won the title of European Yacht of the Year in 2007.
