Owner’s Remarks:

We purchased ASTEROID in 2010 for a family adventure and she has never disappointed.  After picking her up in the USA, we pitstopped the yacht and had a wonderful time on the East Coast of the USA, and in the Caribbean before sailing her across the Atlantic to Ireland where we cruised her this summer before leaving her at Berthon to be sold in September 2012.  She is an immensely strong yacht and has handled all weather conditions without fuss – taking 50 knot winds in her stride with an easy motion that gave the family complete confidence in her at all times.  Her accommodation has housed the family generously and she is superb for entertaining and living aboard.  Whilst the full keel would not have been my first choice, the benefits in terms of blue water cruising are legion and we are converts.  She comes with astonishing amounts of fuel and storage for serious cruising and we have loved every minute of our ownership of ASTEROID and thank her for providing us with such a memorable sailing experience.  She is now for sale as the office, university and school run all beckon, and we will not have the time to use her to her potential for the next few years.

Brokers Remarks:

ASTERIOD has some of the very best joinery that we have ever seen.  She is of the first quality and her systems are robust and beautifully made.  She is a serious blue water cruising yacht built as Van Dam Nordia can, and she has been substantially updated through life including new decks, and many systems upgrades.  Great for both high and low latitude, her rugged and capable construction and design make her perfect for serious bluewater passagemaking.
