Mariner Pilothouse

Exterior Description:

The Mariner 38 pilothouse was designed for long distance comfortable cruising, and was well constructed for the purpose.  The round bilged hull has a raked stem with teak and stainless steel anchor platform, a moderate ballast fin keel, an inboard skeg hung rudder and a transom term with swim ladder.  There are teak and stainless steel rub rails, teak toe rails, stainless steel bow and stern rails, and double lifelines run on stainless steel stanchions.
The deck layout is that of a conventional pilothouse sloop.  The foredeck is followed by a low forward cabin trunk with four ports on each side and two skylight hatches above.  The raised pilothouse trunk follows with fixed windows and a skylight hatch in addition to the companionway to the cockpit aft.  Side decks lead around the cabin truck to the "T" shaped cockpit which has coaming seat backs, port and starboard seat hatches to storage and for lazarette access, and a steering pedestal with folding table.

Interior Description

There is a chain locker in the forepeak with aft access.  A V-berth stateroom follows with a water tank and holding tank below the berth, and a starboard hanging locker and port side bureau.  A passage follows with port side head compartment with shower and a starboard side vanity with sink.  The main cabin has a starboard side settee/berth followed by a hanging locker, and port side "L" settee which converts to a double berth.  A folding table is mounted on the port main bulkhead.
Steps lead aft to the wheelhouse which as a centerline helm station with pedestal seat, a port side pilot seat hollowed by cabinets and drawers, and the galley area arranged to starboard.
Two additional water tanks are located beneath the port and starboard main cabin settees.  The engine is below the inside helm station, and the fuel tanks are port and starboard of the engine.
The interior is well finished primarily in teak veneer, plastic laminates and fabrics, with solid teak trip and has extensive storage in the form of drawers, bins and cabinets.
