Mattick & Reisch Motoryacht - New arrival

MARLIN is the replica of a classic saloon commuter motor yacht seen from the banks of the Hudson River in the late 1920’s. She is based on designs by naval architect John H. Wells, but was built in 2007 with modern conveniences to allow passengers to cruise in comfort. The owner has made every effort to maintain this boat to Bristol standards.

During the annual spring refit some of the exterior varnish will be stripped to bare wood and revarnished, the hull will have a new layer of 2K PU marine paint, the salon windows (10mm PMMA) will be replaced with insulated glass.  All used mattresses will be replaced with new (unused) ones before sale.

NOTE:  The current owner has offered to pay 50% (approximately $30,000) of the cost to upgrade the engines to two 210HP Nanni diesels (a Kubota diesel).  This would ensure the buyer of reasonable spare part availability for the next 20 years.

Hull: Cold-moulded plywood, laminated with epoxy, glassed from outside and in.  Bilges, 32mm (approximately 1 ¼”), scantlings exceed the requirements of the European recreational craft directive to ISO 12215-5.  It is to be expected that the hull should be trouble-free with normal maintenance for the next few decades.

Decks: 25mm (1”) plywood with glass/epoxy sheathing, glassed to the hull, sidedecks and aft cockpit covered with Flexiteek.

Superstructure: Plywood and massive African mahogany, aft superstructure glassed over, then sheathed with wood for brightwork.

Stability tested by heeling experiment and calculated to ISO 12217-1 for category B.
