Seahorse 52 Pilothouse Flybridge

From a design perspective, the 52’s displacement hull features deep rounded bilges, an extremely pronounced keel and a sharp entry ensuring economical and comfortable passages. A bow thruster is a standard feature on the Seahorse 52, so manoeuvring back at the marina is made easy.

The vessel features a racked stern and high, well-flared bow, which throws most water and spray away from the hull. In choppy conditions it’s a dry ride up on the fly bridge even without clears. Her long foredeck takes up almost 30 per cent of her overall length and while there’s no Portuguese bridge, the forward portion of the pilothouse is protected by tall, moulded-deck lockers.

This Seahorse 52 has an asymmetrical main cabin offset to port, with direct passage between the aft cockpit and foredeck limited to a wide covered bulwark on the starboard side.

The fly bridge of the Seahorse 52 is suitable for small social gatherings. When the dinghy is launched it is feasible to entertain up to twelve people here. The mast that supports the antenna, radar dome and the likes is hinged, by unscrewing a single bolt it can be lowered to allow the Seahorse 52 can pass beneath anything higher than the fly bridge deflector screen.

Stepping from the aft cockpit into the main saloon is like stepping back in time to an era when gentlemen’s clubs set a refined atmosphere by using beautiful wood and leather décor. Exceptional interior joinery is a trademark of Seahorse boats and solid teak and veneers are used extensively throughout. The main saloon includes an excellent galley in the port forequarter, featuring a full-sized fridge/freezer, a four-burner gas cook top, oven, microwave and a deep sink. The U-shaped galley layout of the Seahorse 52 includes granite bench tops that double as a handy serving area for the dining settee and aft table.

The forward guest’s stateroom is a winner, however, the master stateroom is “to die for”. It features a queen-sized bed with plenty of walking room on all sides. There’s a vanity with a stool, a settee and a dressing locker on the portside. The ensuite head includes a full-sized bath, Teema toilet and a hand basin with granite bench tops. Hanging lockers of the Seahorse 52 will accommodate coats and longer garments and a built-in safe is included to secure valuable items when you decide to go ashore.

Fans of passage-making will love the pilothouse with its centre line-mounted helm. While the deluxe pilot chair will keep the skipper comfortable and in control during many days at sea. The chair has a bolster so it’s comfortable to stand and drive. Although when passage-making it would be set to the autopilot and radar, so sit back and relax as you keep watch. The stainless steel work on the Seahorse 52 is exceptionally good.
