Halmatic/Qweek Quay Expedition Trawler - High End Trawler Re Fit - 2008

Originally built in 1975 as a research vessel by Halmatic Ltd in Scotland.  "Reliance" is a Sturdy Capable Fiberglass Vessel suitable for long range cruising.  She was commissioned for the University of London's Marine Laboratory there.  She is 1 of 15 hulls, most of which were built for fisheries or research.  Reliance was Re-Launched in 2008 after a complete transformational refit.  This re-fit was a joint effort which began at the Buckie Shipyard in Scotland and finished with the final fit out done by David Walkey at the Qweek Quay Boatyard in Cornwall, UK.  

Reliance is now a modern, exceptionally equipped, high end expedition vessel.

The re-fit design brief was to create a low maintenance exterior with the look and feel of a rugged vessel but with a high level finish inside.  The interior is simple but refined with traditional detailing utilizing a combination of bright and painted wood.  The build quality is excellent and the equipment list and furnishings are the best available at the time of the re-fit.

The overall result is a well integrated, compatible and complementary blend of rugged look, practical functionality and comfort.
