Oyster 41
This Oyster 41 from 1981 has undergone a full refit from 2000 on and is now in a truly impeccable state. The renowned Oyster Marine yard build 27 of these One-Ton yachts between 1980 and 1987. This very competitive Stephen Jones design was especially very successful in regattas in the 1980’s with 5 straight victories in the Cowes Week and a First in its class in the 1985 Fastnet Race.
The decklayout is very practical and all purchases are of high quality. There are no less than 11 Lewmar winches around the cockpit to handle all sheets, halyards and trimming lines. The tiller has been replaced by a pedestal mounted wheel. The rod rigged fractional mast can be trimmed with running back and checkstays. Next to the sails from ’07 and ’08 there are older sails that still are very usable. For the new genaker a removable Seldén boom was placed on the foredeck.
The interior was redesigned and build in 2000. The galley was enlarged and the benches lowered to customary height. Also a lot of cupboard and stowage space was created. The interior was kept as light and open as possible in order not to compromise the yacht’s performance. The rear cabins cannot be closed by doors but have curtains instead. The bow with head and double bed does have a door however for privacy reasons obviously. The engine was build in a soundproof box that can easily shifted forward. It is accessible for maintenance all around.
