Originally built in Wisconsin, she was European owned for many years and served in WWII under the British flag. Her seakeeping abilities were impressively demonstrated on her 1983 transatlantic crossing back to the U.S., and an act of Congress restored her U.S. privileges in 1987.

Currently situated to sleep up to 8 owners/guests in four double staterooms plus up to 5 crew, she was also customized with new captain's quarters aft of the pilothouse in 2006. In 2004 her port diesel main was rebuilt and starboard replaced, both now showing approximately 150 hours. Serious 7000 gallon fuel capacity offers an approximate range of 3000 miles at 9-11 knots. With her original walnut main salon paneling, wood-burning fireplace, formal dining salon forward, and large fantail aft deck, 'NORTHWIND' is a rugged, stately and versatile classic LRC Pilothouse.

Sleeps up to (12) owners/guests in five double staterooms plus up to (5) crew; up to (5) additional crew could be berthed in the focs'le. LAYOUT FROM MAIN DECK, AFT: Very roomy AFT DECK on the fantail offers seating for 20+ persons with a clear drop curtains for all-weather use. Access from here includes either of the walk-around SIDE DECKS, a ladder to the starboard up to the BOAT DECK, and doors on centerline opening into the impressive MAIN SALON.

At 20' long, the MAIN SALON bespeaks a quiet elegance, featuring her original solid walnut paneling and a full-sized wood burning fireplace forward. Stairwells at either side lead down to the owner and guest accommodations; starboard companionway leads forward to the FORMAL DINING SALON, which seats up to (12) guests. With decor in French style, the dining salon features painted, raised paneling covered by rich wall coverings and built-in corner china cabinets. A portside doorway from this area leads aft into the all-modern UP GALLEY amidships, with Hawaiian Koa cabinetry and a door out to the port side deck.

At the aft end of the LOWER DECK, accessed via portside aft stairs from the main salon, is a large GUEST SUITE offering double berth plus settee single, and ensuite head with tub and shower. The second salon stairwell is to starboard and leads down to the three additional staterooms: PORTSIDE GUEST stateroom offers twin bunks outboard; STARBOARD GUEST stateroom offers a double berth outboard. Both of these guest cabins feature an ensuite wash basin, and they share an adjacent GUEST HEAD with full-sized tub and shower.

Forward of the stairwell landing is the full-width MIDSHIPS MASTER CABIN, featuring centerline queen berth forward; built-in storage including walk-in hanging locker; and ensuite MASTER HEAD with whirlpool tub, shower and vanity lighting.

LOWER DECK, amidships, finds the well-located SHIP'S LAUNDRY with full-sized washer and dryer; adjacent PANTRY is well arranged for ample storage. Forward is the CREW QUARTERS, all of which are nicely updated. CAPTAIN'S CABIN has been completely renewed in original paneled style with marble-walled shower/head.

TOP DECK is huge, with much useable space! Forward is the full width RAISED WHEELHOUSE with nav equipment and Portuguese bridge. Aft is a large cabin, recently outfitted as a working ship's office/captain's cabin with queen berth, plus head & sink. Further aft is the BOAT DECK with tender stowage amidships and SUN DECK area with dodger canvas finally aft.
