Fairey Marine Ltd Tyne Class

Tyne Class brief detail:
The Tyne Class All-weather Lifeboats were introduced to the RNLI fleet in 1982 with the last boat being built in 1990 and several are still on service with the RNLI around the British Isles. It was designed both as a slipway launched lifeboat, which requires the propellers to be protected and also to lie afloat. The boat has a steel hull with shallow draught, long straight keel and extended bilge keels to protect the propellers. Protection of the propellers is given by partial tunnels, by very deep bilge keels, and a straight wide keel. The superstructure of the lifeboat is constructed out of aluminium and is watertight which enables the boat to self right in the event of a capsize. Steering is by twin rudders, which have both power assisted and hand hydraulic controls. The diesel engines draw fuel from two tanks and there is also a third reserve fuel tank. Trim planes are fitted to alter the running trim in varying sea conditions.

Boats located in Poole, Dorset. The boats are not commercial coded as they stand although previous buyers have achieved commercial coding of the Tyne Class boats fairly easily with some minor boat tweaks.
