DESIGN & BUILD CONCEPT

Entrada is an exceptional long range cruiser designed and built to cross oceans and cruise secluded islands in comfort. Bill Tripp designed Entrada and her sister ships with full expectations of meeting the proposed design and weight & measure criteria. It was the desire of the Owners’ to cruise extensively enjoying Entradas' performance characteristics, as they believe the performance aspects inherent in this design produce the best vessels for offshore sailing.

Entrada was built utilizing an engineered composite laminate consisting of 100% aramid fibers with carbon fiber reinforcements in the way of structural beams and other structural components. Each aramid fabric orientation was custom designed and engineered to meet the required mechanical properties for the given load bearing areas. Fabric stacks are embedded in an epoxy resin matrix and are machine impregnated to an exacting 65% fiber to 35% resin ratio resulting in extremely high tensile and compressive strengths. The large composite structures were then vacuum bagged and baked in an oven at approximately 90 degrees Celsius with a dwell period of approximately 12 hours ensuring all fiber bundles were completely saturated by the epoxy resin matrix. Critical areas and components such as the chain plates were designed as a part of the hull’s structure. They are integral to the hull in order to maximize the load handling characteristics. The completed vessel was baked a final time once all structural components were joined together maximizing the compressive and tensile strengths of the materials. The laminate was analyzed by an independent lab and found the vacuum bagging process yielded an air entrapment/content of approx. 2%. Result: the densest and strongest hull possible.

You will see as you read through the detail of the attached inventory list, the efforts and care employed during this build and you will come to realize that Entrada and her sister ships are extremely sophisticated, specialized and special boats the yield only the best in performance, safety, comfort and finger tip helm control and balance so often desired in sailing vessels pursuing the ultimate goal of achieving “proper” yacht designation and yet so often missing. Entrada is one of only a handful of those special yachts built to date that enjoys this status.

Minimum weight, speed, ease of handling and ease of maintenance are the primary goals of the Turner 56. It also features a unique hydraulic lifting keel system which provides a reduced draft for accessing shallow harbors without sacrificing the boat’s performance sailing characteristics. The 56 is equipped with a carbon fibre, swept spreader rig, with non-overlapping headsails and full-width chainplates, making runner-less sailing possible and further simplifying operation of the boat whether cruising or racing. A state-of-the-art furling system is recessed below deck for optimum performance from the sail plan.

This unique yacht breaks new ground in the cruiser/racer classes, providing a fast and manageable boat which can sail all the world’s oceans.
