Viking Sport Cruisers 61 Motor Yacht

Viking has just wedged a 61-footer between its 58 and 65. It’s hard to believe that you’d find a significant difference between boats with just three or four feet defining them. But owners and captains alike agree that the 65 and the 61 sit on opposite sides of the big-boat/mid-size line.
The 61′s cored fiberglass bottom enjoys some minor refinements, such as different chine angles and a deeper, finer entry. The bow has also been raked more severely. I found that these refinements conspired to make a drier ride on every point of sail, but especially in a head sea. The changes also carry over into the 61′s styling, where Viking continues to replace sharp corners with soft, radius turns.

A beautiful solution to living the good life, performance and accommodations merge seamlessly aboard the Viking Sport Cruisers 61 Motor Yacht. The teak cockpit features concealed deck hardware and electric docking windlasses, as well as comfortable upholstered seating. An optional concealed transom davit accommodates tender storage on the integrated bathing platform. A dual helm seat provides an excellent vantage for operating the yacht in any weather. A raised sunpad aft conceals a deep stowage compartment for cushions and other flybridge gear. In the salon, inviting furnishings are set among three distinct gathering areas. A U-shaped lounge to starboard accommodates guests in stylish fashion and wraps around the hand-finished cherry-wood table to create a relaxed entertaining area. Opposite, a cocktail cabinet and an entertainment system surround a cozy loveseat. The full-featured galley is complete with a complement of world-class appliances, including a dishwasher and microwave/convection oven, and a large utility room conceals a washer/dryer and freezer. The lower helm provides outstanding visibility and comfort for the helmsman, while guests seated at the roomy dinette to port will enjoy wonderful views with their meals. Below, the three-stateroom, three-head layout accentuates spaciousness and privacy. The master stateroom is amidships and features the convenience and comfort of a walkaround berth, dressing table, entertainment system, and ensuite head with stall shower. Forward, the VIP stateroom boasts a private entrance to the head and stall shower. The port guest cabin is equipped with side-by-side berths, ample storage, and a large hanging locker and a private head with stall shower.
