Kanter Pilothouse Cutter

"Ulidia" is a Ted Brewer designed steel hulled Kanter 46. She was built and designed to tackle the worst the world's oceans could throw at her while keeping her crew safe passage after passage.

Her pilothouse sloop design makes for warm speedy passages as evidenced by a trans Atlantic passage to Europe and back to Canada a few years ago.

Over the past two seasons her current owners have cruised her south with two small children - from Nova Scotia to Grenada where she is currently stored. Owner will be sailing sailing her back to NS in May if a north east delivery location is desired.

If you are looking for a solid offshore yacht, capable of transAtlantic adventures, please contact us.

Her extensive specifications tell the more of the story.Viewings by appointment.

Kanter Yachts’ attention to quality and good craftsmanship is evident in the interior woodwork. Beautiful cherry and teak, with rubbed-varnish finish, are blended to create a comfortable and warm interior. The designer clearly understood the importance of natural light and fresh air—there are ample hatches and portholes. Following the layout from stem to stern: The forward cabin has a large v-berth with a hanging locker across from cabinets. Next, the salon is spacious and functional. A solid cherry dinette table folds down the centreline. There is seating for seven people. As well there is an outboard sea berth and extensive cabinets. The salon opens to the galley through a finely trimmed oval. The galley has new countertops (>20 square feet), new Polar double sink, a swan neck faucet, a stainless steel Princess stove, manual plus pressure water, and isotherm refrigeration. Opposite the galley is a head with shower. Next, the pilothouse is up two teak steps. The pilothouse windows are lexan and provide 220 degrees of horizon. A pilot berth is outboard to starboard. The navigation table and radio/ electronics table are to port, adjacent to the hydraulic helm and chair. Beneath the pilothouse sole is the engine compartment. Finally a master stateroom, with a double spring mattress and beautiful lockers and cabinets, is located under the cockpit and bridge deck. A private head is opposite the stateroom. Throughout the Kanter 46, European-style flat hot water heaters, both stylish and efficient, provide balanced temperature control.

Kanter Yachts is world-renowned for metal yacht construction. The hull and deck were constructed of 3/16” (4.76 mm) prime mild steel. The shell plates are compound rolled, eliminating the typical steel hull chines. All seams and butts in the plating are welded continuously both inside and outside the hull. The framing is transverse with floors and longitudinal stiffeners. All frames and stiffeners are connected to the shell plating by intermittent welds. The hull, deck and pilothouse superstructure are one welded unit. There are multiple watertight steel bulkheads—a bow crash bulkhead and a large forward bulkhead with gasketed door. The bilge is divided to three sections to increase watertight integrity, each section with its own bilge pumps. Outside the hull is coated with epoxy tin, inside with epoxy tar and sprayed polyurethane foam. The deck is 5/8” solid teak glued and fastened to 1/2" marine plywood over steel plate. The foredeck is flush and edged by a raised steel bulwark capped with teak. The cockpit is large with huge drains.
