Westerly Chieftain 26 - Centre cockpit!

1974, twin keel, WHEEL STEERING, aft cabin, BETA 25hp DIESEL (new 2006), new mainsail 2007, new genoa 2006, windows removed and refurbished 2005, keels strengthened in 2008, new Cutlass bearing 2009, a lovely family boat.

CONSTRUCTION                            

Built in 1974.   GRP construction with white topsides and superstructure, twin bilge keels, centre cockpit with wheel steering, aft cabin, bermudan sloop rig,  5 berths in 2 cabins plus saloon and around 5’10” standing headroom.

SAILS  & RIG:                          

Mainsail (2007, Arun Sails) with blue mainsail cover.   Sailspar genoa roller reefing system (2007) with furling No 2 Genoa (2006, Arun Sails).   Multicolour Cruising Chute.  Alloy mast and boom, stainless steel standing rigging *standing rigging and running rigging replaced in 2004).

ENGINE:                                           

Beta 3 cylinder 25hp inboard diesel engine fitted new in 2006.   Stainless steel propeller shaft and bronze propeller both replaced in 2006.   Cutlass bearing renewed in 2009.   10g galvanised fuel tank.   Alternator charging to 2 x 12v batteries (80 Amp/hr & 120Amp/hr).    Single lever throttle control.   Engine hours approx 120.

DECK GEAR:                             

Stainless steel pushpit, pulpit and guardwires, blue sprayhood, blue dodgers with name in white, wooden folding boarding ladder, wheel steering with emergency tiller, bottom action sheet winches, halyard winches at mast, plough main anchor with anchor roller on bowsprit, 90ft chain, 15lb CQR kedge anchor & warp, mooring warps and fenders.

SAFETY GEAR:                          

Horseshoe lifebuoy, 2 fire extinguishers, fire blanket, rope cutter on propeller, manual bilge pump.

NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT:       

Compass, NASA echo sounder and log, Huson 70 VHF radio, FM/AM radio, windvane at masthead, Autohelm autopilot, Garmin 152 GPS, radar reflector on stainless steel ensign staff on pushpit, navigation lights, steaming light, tri-colour masthead light and anchor light.

DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT:           

240v shore power.   10w solar panel on aft cabin charges service battery.   Her galley has a Flavel Vanessa gas cooker with 2 burners, oven and grill, icebox, electric pumped water supply to sink from approx 15 gallon water tank.   Her separate heads compartment has a Jabsco marine toilet (installed 2012). 

ACCOMMODATION:                   

5 berths in 2 cabins plus saloon including 2 berths in the separate aft cabin, 2 vee berths in for forward cabin and 1 single settee berth in the saloon.

REMARKS:                               

“Hector” was purchased by her current owner in 2003.   Following her purchase the owners asked Woodrolfe Boatyard at Tollesbury to re-bed the keels, refurbish the rudder and renew the standing & running rigging.   Over the years her owners have carried out regular maintenance and replacement including;

 

2005             Windows removed and reburbished by Houdini Marine and replaced

2006             New No 2 Genoa by Arun Sails

2006             New Beta 25hp diesel with new shaft and prop.

2007             New Sailspar roller gear fitted and geoa modified to fit.

2007             New mainsail by Arun Sails to match genoa

2008             Keels reinforced and strengthened to surveyor inspection

2009             New Cutlass bearing

 

Her owners have used the boat for family sailing with children and grandchildren over the years, thoroughly enjoying every minute.  “Hector” is an ideal family boat, carefully maintained and improved over the years and ready for her new owner to enjoy!
