Owners Comments: This is an easy boat to race and cruise.  It will sail very high and handles great downwind with the spinnaker surfing off at 10 knots easily.  The boat is sea worthy and rugged.  We have sailed it in heavy weather to 55 knots and it handled well.  This model of boat has been double handed by others in ocean races including the Transpac, California to Hawaii.  Upwind in heavy seas the large and comfortable cockpit remains dry.  In Chicago this boat sailed with the MORF fleet and it is a great boat for that club, which offers the best package of racing in Chicago.  The UK racing sails are the best available for the boat.  The bottom has been cleaned and painted with VC-17 every year and is smooth and fast.  Performance notes including the polar package will be included with the boat.  It is ready to go.

The elliptical keel and rudder are part of what yield the exceptional performance.  The rudder is enormous and the boat steers on a very light touch and you will never want a wheel after you have the experience of sailing this boat.  Under power this boat backs straight down like a car and it is easy to power or sail onto any dock.

As a cruiser this boat is ideal for a family who wants to sail and it was sailed this way often by the current owners.  This is especially true because it can be handled by a couple with ease.  It is spacious below and the quarter berth and the v berth are both large and comfortable for two.  We cruised it for weekends with six people and everyone was happy, and with five adults for days on end over long distances.  There is standing headroom for adults to six feet.  The enclosed head has been refit with odorless hose and the head is odorless.

Upgrades which enhance the cruising ability of this boat include the tiller auto pilot, pressurized water, the modern shore power system, ice box refrigeration, the chart plotting GPS and interconnected VHF radio with the distress calling, and the drip-less stuffing box.  The diesel has been maintained by Larsen and every recommended item was carried out.  The boat moves fast under power, over six knots.  The entire cabin sole is new as of 2013

The Olson 30S is 30 feet of pure beauty and power.  On the outside it's all business.  But below, it's a very open and practical layout with handsome teak and holly cabin sole, plush cushions, teak trim, and good storage.

It's spacious interior features a large double berth aft.  The main salon includes a port settee with a drop-leaf table that can be folded out of the way.  The starboard settee offers additional leg room as it runs under the nav station's chart table.  An attractive liquor and storage rack is positioned on the main bulkhead.  A hanging locker is on the port side across from head.

The L-shaped galley features a fresh water sink with doorway below, utensil drawer, a gimbaled 2 burner alcohol stove with oven, a large dry goods locker, an insulated ice box and a trash pass through.

Forward to starboard is an enclosed head with a hot and cold shower and sink, a toiletries chest and cleaning gear locker.  Also forward is a large double v-berth in a private stateroom.

Performance is engineered into every detail of the Olson 30S.  Its elliptical keel and rudder provide stability while its tall double spreader masthead rig provides the power. All halyard and sheeting systems lead to the cockpit for easy handling.  \
