The Cal 31 is designed on the same principals as teh great Cal 40s that survived 20 years of hard racing - a hand layup of hull and deck in which resin is squeezed into the cloth and excess squeezed out, producing the strongest, lightest fiberglass laminate possible.  A subjective description - as provided by Cal - would be "confident," "aggressive," and "classic."
