Designed by John M Beaufort from lines of Tern III in Elements of Yacht Design by Skene in 1930. The boat was built in 1930 by Schertzer on Lake Union and launched in 1931. It originally had a single cylinder Bolander motor. It is planked with 1 red cedar planking on the hull and yellow cedar planking on the deck. Originally the main mast was one piece and there were 2 yards. In order to set the square rig you had to go aloft and the upper yard had to be hoisted to finish the set. With a gaffed main it has a gaff topsail, staysail, jib and jib topsail. The gaff topsail had a vertical spar to extend it above the main mast.
