Westerly Marine Perry 59

Designed from the outset as a fast, comfortable, true blue-water cruiser, the Perry design has met the goals perfectly. She is easily handled by a couple, or can be single-handed by an experienced skipper. All sail controls lead to the cockpit, and the main and jib sheet winches (electric) are easily reached by the helmsman, as are the GPS, autopilot, chart-plotter, VHF and engine controls. She is a one-owner yacht, with no repairs or refits needed.

When first approaching this custom 59 foot custom performance cruising sloop, designed by Robert Perry, one might question if she is a race boat. My eyes quickly went towards  the swept back hard dodger and the thought on how comfortable the cockpit must be for long ocean passages. I glanced at the furling boom system along with the roller furling headsails. This blended in with electric primary winches and state of the art electronics I immediately understood that this boat could be easily sailed by two people. Stepping aboard this performance cruiser, from the stern transom steps, the first item that jumps at you is the large wheel's. Placing your hands on the wheel of this boat immediately places an ear-to-ear smile on your face on the FUN you will have with a following sea behind you. Another very important feature to this Perry 59 is the amount of interior luxury you get with grand prix performance. As you step down the companionway, the first thing your senses pick up is elegance emulating from all the interior luxurious. Starting with the large owners stateroom forward that provides a comfortable sleeping arrangement at anchor. Shelves and American cherry wood trim run along the hull side. There is a large opening hatch above. Aft and to starboard, there is a large stall shower. Across and to port is the head. The owners stateroom also features a vanity with plenty of storage throughout this luxuries stateroom.

The Perry 59 spacious main salon is just aft of the forward cabin. To port is the comfortable L-shaped dinette with entertainment center that features a HD TV on the port bulk head. The dinette comfortably seats a number of guests around the teak table. Across and to starboard are two straight settees facing each other with a table between them that also converts into a single berth. Please note that salon is finished in varnished American cherry over foam cored bulk heads.

The nav station is aft and to starboard of the salon. Storage is available under the lift-top table. The ships electrical DC panel is located outboard of the bench seat. Above and outboard, the navigation instruments and electronics are neatly installed within arm’s reach. Aft of the nav station is a large head with plenty of ventilation.

Across the salon to port is the well-conceived U-shaped galley. The galley features four custom Glacier refrigerators & freezer drawers with four- Seafrost 24v compressors and digital controllers, plus a cockpit refrigerator built into the starboard seating area. Microwave and a Force 10, 2-burner gimbaled LPG stove/oven. Safety propane sensor checks for leaks prior to activation of the gas valve. 2- 10 gallon aluminum horizontal propane tanks mounted in a dedicated, vented locker aft. Large double SS sink with drain pan and soap dispenser. Grohe faucet. Complete set of cookware, dinner ware, cutlery, misc storage containers, Tervis tumblers and SS mugs. Ice maker, trash compactor.

The aft stateroom is located to starboard of the companionway aft of the nav station. The double quarter berth and pilot berth equipped with lee cloths provides a good guest cabin and sea berth. A large hanging locker forward with drawers and outboard provides excellent storage.

Directly aft of the galley is the work room, and can also be accessed via a hatch on deck. From there is access to the equipment room containing the genes, compressors, fresh water system and water maker.
