Yachting Developments, Nz Sloop

ADJUTOR was the Patron Saint of Yachtsmen, an apt name for this well proven performance world cruising yacht. In her design and construction, all efforts were put forward to enhance the yacht’s comfort, performance and ease of handling. In this context, it is important to note that performance means not only pure speed, but the ease with which a yacht maintains that speed and particularly, the comfort aboard when voyaging. A tremendous amount of effort was expended in the design and construction of ADJUTOR in sound attenuation, not only keeping machinery sounds to a minimum, but even to the extent of reducing wave slap at anchor. Her hull shape minimizes the slamming that occurs all too frequently when driving a flat hulled racer upwind in a seaway. Even her furniture was custom designed to live comfortably at any attitude of heel when underway. Indeed, this is a design that was created for living comfortably in the offshore environment. She also lives comfortably - and turns heads with her remarkably attractive profile - in every port of call.

The design brief for ADJUTOR called for a proper world voyaging performance sailing yacht that can be easily handled by a crew of three. With her carbon 4 spreader mast by Southern Spars, Park Avenue boom, Harken hydraulic furling headsail and self-tacking staysail, hydraulic winches and extremely efficient deck layout, the yacht offers exhilarating performance with minimal effort. All sailhandling is accomplished within a reach of the comfortable center cockpit, which centers around a large drop leaf teak table, well protected from the elements by a dodger and fixed bimini. The pilothouse is comfortable but all business, with full navigation / communication and control station forward with Stidd helm seat, settee to port, wet locker and 360 degree visibility. The yacht demonstrated her potential on her maiden voyage from New Zealand to Tahiti, covering 2,300 miles at an average speed of 10.25 knots! Since then, and while completing her circumnavigation in 2009, she regularly touched 14 knots reaching in big breeze - with a record to date of 18+!

As a proper cruising yacht, the owner did not wish to crowd any of the spaces aboard. Consequently, the owner’s cabin is aft, along with one very comfortable guest stateroom with twin berths and an additional Pullman berth. All cabin spaces are large and uncluttered, the main salon forward of the pilothouse is a comfortable entertaining and dining area, the fully equipped gourmet galley has a comfortable dinette as well and there are very comfortable crew quarters forward for two. The generous allocation of space continues in the engine room, where all machinery is placed for easy access when servicing, with full headroom, workbench, sink, etc.. The full width transom stowage locker, forward chain locker and custom liferaft stowage are designed to carry the full compliment of equipment for world cruising. Indeed, if you are looking for a yacht with the maximum number of cabins, ADJUTOR is probably not for you. But if you are looking to cruise the world on a easily handled high performance yacht in complete comfort and safety with a comfortable guest stateroom for family and friends, she is a magnificent world voyaging yacht.
