Romsdal North Sea Trawler

Dramatic price reduction on this North Sea Trawler, Adventure Yacht, or Expedition Yacht - the Grieg class Romsdals are the ones that inspired this style of trawler. "Mareva", in Tahitian, means to fly, to leave in space was built by Hagen Shipyards, Norway in 1962. Or, maybe we should say this proper little ship was totally overbuilt: 5 inches of Norwegian pitch pine carvel planking 2.5" outer and 2.5" inner over 4" by 5" inch laminated oak frames for a start. Romsdal Trawlers are long range passage makers with renowned sea keeping abilities - they are capable of crossing oceans. "Mareva" has a trans-Pacific crossing on her resume round trip from California to Tahiti. She offers a long list of amenities, features, and equipment. The boat was hauled in June and received fresh anti-fouling paint and zincs. Check out the YouTube video. "Mareva" is often away cruising so viewings by appointment are a must.

Twin Detroit 6-71 N series diesels drive one 5 inch shaft via a belt drive system. Either one or both engines may be used. On one engine "Mareva" cruises at 7.5 knots using 7.5 gallons per hour. On two engines the vessel cruises at 9.5 knots using 15 gallons per hour.

Reverse on "Mareva" requires hydraulic reversing the pitch of the propeller from the control on the bridge.
