J 36 was originally designed to race without any regard for a handicap rule. Its primary goal was to sail fast, have fun, and be an enjoyable boat for the family to sail and enjoy. "Chinook II"  has just finished up a complete professional repair of some core issues in the hull by New England Fiberglass.  Chinook II is set up for cruising with a single season fully battened main and Harken roller furler.  

The layout is simple but functional with sleeping accommodations or sail storage forward in pipe berths with lights and shelves. The head is just forward of the main bulkhead with wet locker opposite. Aft of the main bulkhead are proper settee berths port and starboard with storage behind cushioned backrests. Force 10 Heater on forward bulkhead. Galley is to port with two-burner propane stove/oven, stainless sink, and storage behind and below. To starboard of the companionway is the navigation table and ice box to starboard. The updated 28hp diesel engine is located in the center for complete serviceability and functions as the main cabin table with drop leafs. There are two large quarter berths port and starboard with private opening ports, shelf, and light for each.
