Beneteau One-Ton Race Boat

The BENETEAU One Toners represent a design collaboration of  J. Berret, J. and Fauroux and custom built by BENETEAU-Groupe Finot, This Beneteau 39 is one of ONLY TEN One Toners by and for Beneteau’s in-house racing program specifically for the 1985 Admiral’s Cup. This is a flat out Grand Prix racing sailboat providing all of the thrills and excitement that one expects for a bit of competitive sailing around the buoys or on long distance offshore events like racing to Bermuda.  This is an affordable proven race winner that represents an amazing opportunity for sailing enthusiasts who enjoy the thrill of high level competition. 

Air Mail is an aging “race ready”, fractional rig, One Ton race boat that is a great PHRF racer or a fun boat for the bay.  Air Mail won its class in the 2006 Annapolis to Bermuda race.  Air Mail also won its class and was the overall PHRF winner of the 2012 Down The Bay race from Annapolis to Norfolk.  I have owned Air Mail since 2000 and have many 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the PHRF A2 class.  Although Air Mail is showing its age, it is still a competitive racer in PHRF.

The interior features 6 pipe berths.  A navigation table, storage and a two burner alcohol stove are to port.  To starboard is space for crew gear and a stainless sink.  In the middle of the cabin is a large 120 quart igloo cooler above the hydraulic transmission.  Forward is an open area with a marine head and a large area for sail storage.  Above in the center of the boat and aft of the cooler are stainless grab bars that are great for crew security and a great place for hanging wet foul weather gear.

Above deck Air Mail is well laid out with hydraulic boom vang and out haul.  There are runners and check stays lead to dedicated self tailing Lewmar  2 speed winches.  There is tiller steering with the main traveler in front of the driver.  The main sheet has 6 to 1 purchase with an additional 4 to 1 fine tune.  In front of the main sail trimmer are two winches that come in handy for sail changes or rigging a preventer.  Next, moving forward are two 3 speed Lewmar genoa winches.  On either side of the companion way are two Lewmar 2 speed winches that are used for halyards and as spinnaker sheet winches.

Air Mail has great graphics and is recognized around the bay.

The interior and exterior could use paint or you can have fun and sail as is, the old boat is a blast to sail!
