Outer Reef Yachts 108' Explorer

Extended cruising in luxury and safety is the basic concept for an Outer Reef Yacht. All Outer Reef Yachts are built to open Ocean Category "A" (wave heights 18-20' and sustained winds of over 40 knots. This 108' Outer Reef is a true bluewater cruiser, powered for fuel economy and long range.

Hull and Superstructure Construction

• Vacuumed bag infused
• Gel-coated parts
• Foam cored & solid glass parts
• Multi-axial fabric reinforced skins
• Vinyl-ester resins
• Carbon reinforcements incorporated into deck and structure where applicable
• House & decks stiffened with longitudinal stringers supported by transverse bulkheads, web-frames and floors
• Separate hull bottom tanks
• Vessel to be built to full survey and compliance, with RINA rules with MCA additional compliance

Painting and Fairing

• All surfaces above waterline shall be faired smooth with micro-balloon filled epoxy compounds as needed
• All surfaces must be degreased and cleaned free of all corrosion products, sand, dirt, rust, oil and foreign matter
• Hull bottom approx. 30 mils. bottom coat system , two (2) coats of  primer, two (2) coats of  barrier & anti-fouling paint
• Topsides primed with two (2) coats of epoxy primer and top coated with two (2) coats of a polyurethane paint system
• Any decks that are not teak will be sprayed w/ a non-skid finis

Metals Construction

• Welded construction in aluminum to MIG and TIG survey standards
• Plating shall be 5086 H116 aluminum
• Stiffeners shall be 5086 H111 or suitable marine grade equivalent
