The Great Harbour GH37 is remarkable for the amount of living space it provides in just 37-feet. Indeed it has as much space, if not more, as the typical 45 to 50-foot trawler. This translates into huge savings in the purchase price, operating costs, slip rentals and maintenance bills.

Best of all, the GH37 boasts the same unsinkable, stable hull as all the Great Habours. Its robustly built, solid fiberglass hull is built to take a beating, but if the unthinkable happens, its cored superstructure and deck has enough buoyancy to keep the vessel afloat. And with its focus on safety, this full displacement trawler offers the reliability of twin diesel engines. Now, you can wander off the beaten path to explore remote cruising areas confident that your boat has the ultimate "get-home" engine, a second engine that alone can drive the boat to hull speed.

Owners like to compare the living space and conveniences of their GH37 to their home. In fact, many have made their GH37 their home by moving aboard full time. With three floors of living space, full sized home appliances including a separate washer and dryer, and year-round heating and air conditioning they've never looked back at their decision to live aboard.

The spacious main saloon utilizes the vessel's wide, 15' 10" beam and features two seating areas - an L-shaped settee that can be converted to a double berth and two comfortable reading chairs. It opens to a protected cockpit, which many owners enclose with canvas and flexiglass to create an all-weather outdoor area.

There are two basic versions of the interior layout, and both feature a fully equipped galley with 23-cubic foot refrigerator, a radiant 4-burner electric range, a microwave/convection oven and solid-surface countertops. A washer and dryer are standard.

In version "A" there is a guest stateroom/study to port with a desk and settee/berth. To starboard is the galley. Version "B" locates the galley to port with a pass-through opening to the saloon area. This version features a guest stateroom to starboard with its own head and shower. Forward is the owner's stateroom with an island queen berth surrounded by built-in dressers, lockers and shelves. A vanity sink is separate from the head with a large stall shower. With an overhead hatch and large opening ports, there is plenty of light and fresh air, making it a pleasant, cheerful cabin day and night.

Underway, the center of activity will be in the raised pilothouse, which is segregated from the vessel's living quarters. Here, the captain will command his ship from a centerline helm inspired by a commercial ship's bridge. There's room for a full array of modern electronics as well as paper charts, excellent visibility through the reverse angle windows and quick access to the side decks through port and starboard doors. During passages, the crew will want to gather around the raised settee and table where they can also enjoy the views from the large side windows. Not only does the settee and table convert to a double berth, but a separate pilot berth is located aft of the settee for the off-watch crew or for an extra overnight guest.

The standard tankage gives the GH37 a range of 1500 nautical miles, but if a watermaker is installed, one of the water tanks can be converted to an additional fuel tank, increasing the range to well over 2000 miles. One owner reported cruising from Maine to Miami without refueling.

The engine room is spacious enough to be able to easily access all sides of both diesel engines as well as all other mechanical gear. A centralized sea chest provides all the ship's systems with seawater and eliminates all other through hulls. A workbench with standing headroom is ideal for repairs and maintenance projects.

The Great Harbour GH37 is the ideal liveaboard boat for a couple with occasional guests or with children. It has the interior space of a Manhattan apartment, the charm of a New England cottage and the toughness and reliability of a commercial workboat. And best of all, it's made right here in the USA.
