Tayana Vancouver 42 Cutter - Offshore Ready
There are classic designs that seem to look right; that their soul purpose is to sail as far as the crew wishes to wander to. With her sharp, high bow, beautiful swept back cruising "fin" keel, to her huge skeg hung rudder, beautiful rounded rear, 32 inch high lifelines, deep cockpit and a powerful sail plan offering a true cutter rig; a Offshore Sailor can't ask for more. The interior works just as well. This Tayana Vancouver Harris designed 42, will go the distance, all in style, speed, comfort, and safety; all for very little money. The Tayana V42s' design and capability is in the same league as a Valiant 40/42, a PSC 37/40, all of the Tashiba/Baba line, the Westsail 42/43's, and several other "classic plastics", of proven offshore sailing machines. If you want to sail away on a great solid boat, give "Passport" your consideration, she won't disappoint. Before the first Robert Harris designed Tayana 42 was produced; it was reviewed by designer Robert H. Perry in his "Sailing Designs" Book, (Port Publications, 1980). Perhaps an overview of the yacht is best described by Mr. Perry's original quote. "The concept [of the Vancouver 42] is to provide a yacht, that is particularly suited to long offshore passages with little or no compromising in the direction of the production, all purpose yacht?" He went on to say, "The Tayana 42 is built by the Ta Yang Yacht Building Company in Taiwan. Ta Yang has the reputation of being one of the most reliable and consistent yards in the orient. With the direction of Mr. Harris, they should produce a good product." This in fact turned out to be true. More than 200 Tayana Vancouver 42s are cruising the world today. They are an incredibly strong and safe blue water cruiser. The construction is robust and the design specifications are generally overbuilt. The result is a wonderful, solid, comfortable, sea kindly and satisfying boat. She's strong and she sails well in any weather, and she's as comfortable as she is safe. The Tayana 42 Vancouver hull design takes the best of traditional, solid, beamy full keel design and sea kindly double ended styling but also incorporates elements of a modern underbody. The keel is modified fin keel. The rudder is skeg hung. Her long waterline makes her a fast passage maker. Her ample beam gives her stability as well as generous living accommodations below. The Tayana 42 Vancouver is a proven cruising yacht. Many sailors consider this boat to be one of the very best cruising yachts. This seaworthy, comfortable, and easy to sail boat could be a home that can safely take you anywhere in the world. Passport, as she's called is a proven sailing vessel. Her current owner has improved and added lots of major big ticket cruising items, all within the last five years: Passport offers an exceptional opportunity to the person who has the cruising bug. She has been carefully readied for cruising and is solid, comfortable with all new systems, recent sails and standing rigging, AC/heat, new top shelf entire electronics, great canvas, wind generator, Monitor windvane, new refrigerator and new freezer system, and many other new upgrades. If not needed, her port stateroom can be converted to an enormous storage locker - your garage. Her seaworthy, sea kindly motion, ease of handling and space make her ideal for a cruising couple with children or a dog. She's designed to be a home at sea anywhere she travels. Design features like a roomy head and massive storage are must have elements on a cruising yacht. This Vancouver 42 has them all. Her interior is designed for living. Compared to other boats in the same size range, the Tayana 42 offers remarkable living comfort, aesthetics, light, ventilation, storage, and even privacy.
