Bayfield 40 Ketch - New arrival

The Bayfield cruiser line of sailboats were developed in the early 1970’s at the Bayfield Boat Yard, Clinton, Ontario. Designed by H. Ted Gozzard, the Bayfield 40 has a unique combination of new and old thinking with her clipper bow, trailboards, and teak combings combined with a beamy fully updated interior. This is a big 40-footer, and she is known as much for her good looks as for her amazingly spacious accommodations.

Sapphire is a turn-key cruiser, meticulously maintained and ready for adventure. A two-owner Great Lakes boat for 25 years, she was gently used for 4 months during the summer and carefully put to bed for the winter months. Recently she has spent five seasons in the Bahamas while parked safely on the hard in Virginia during hurricane season. The conscientious owners have consistently updated equipment as necessary to keep Sapphire safe, sound, and seaworthy.

This fine vessel is worthy of your inspection.  Sapphire will not disappoint.  Please call to make an appointment.

The Bayfield 40 designed by Ted Gozzard and built by the Bayfield Boat Yard Limited of Bayfield, Ontario Canada is a proven short –handed cruiser. This cutter rigged ketch has more sail combinations than any boat of its size, which, along with the full keel, make this boat a safe, comfortable cruiser for all waters in a variety of conditions. It sails well to all points and with a relatively shallow draft of around five feet, making it perfect for the rivers and creeks of the east coast as well as the Cays of Florida and the Bahamas.
